The EquaDem Research Internships support Health and Social Care professionals, Third Sector staff, and Local Authority representatives to build research capacity through a supervised project. Interns are released from their workplace for up to one day per week for up to 12 months to carry out a research project with experienced academic supervisors from participating universities.

Applicants should have a strong interest in research, commitment to the programme, full managerial support, and availability for meetings and training. No prior research training is required, and joint applications are welcome.

Projects should align with the applicant’s organisational priorities and must:

  • Be discussed with an EquaDem core team member before applying
  • Involve co-production with people with lived experience or service users
  • Address health inequalities

Interns will receive supervision, online training, and opportunities to attend EquaDem events and workshops. They are expected to share their findings through blogs or web content and present at the annual EquaDem Conference.

Applicants are encouraged to use the Focus On Research and Equity (FOR EQUITY) platform when developing their proposal: https://forequity.uk/
