Research Showcase – Investigating White Matter Hyperintensities in People at Risk of Alzheimer’s

This livestream is part of the Dementia Researcher weekly Showcase series. Each week, we host a 45-minute online session bringing researchers together to share their work, methods, and ideas.
In this session, Cameron Heyman will present a high-level summary of his PhD research investigating white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) in people at increased risk for Alzheimer’s disease dementia. The talk will explore the cognitive impacts of WMHs, the factors associated with their development, and what they may reveal about the earliest stages of dementia risk.
Drawing together findings from his doctoral research, Cameron will discuss how understanding WMHs may improve our knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease progression and help identify opportunities for earlier detection and intervention.
Cameron is a PhD student at the University of Auckland whose research focuses on the cognitive impacts and risk factors of white matter hyperintensities in people at increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease dementia.
Attendees can expect a research-focused session with time for questions and discussion.
