Deputy Head of Admiral Nurse Academy

Dementia UK seeks a Deputy Head of Admiral Nurse Academy to lead its external learning and education offer, sharing specialist dementia nursing expertise with health and social care professionals, organisations and wider audiences.

Nearly one million people in the UK are living with dementia, and one in two of us will be affected by it in our lifetime, whether by caring for someone, developing the condition ourselves, or both. Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that supports the whole family. Its Admiral Nurses provide free, expert advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one. About the role The Admiral Nurse Academy supports Admiral Nurses, health and social care professionals and corporate partners to raise awareness and develop evidence-based skills, knowledge and expertise in dementia care. The team is growing, and this new Deputy Head post will provide leadership across the Academy’s external learning and education offer, helping it reach wider audiences and strengthen dementia knowledge and practice. Working alongside the Head of Admiral Nurse Academy and the existing Deputy Heads, you will:

• lead a team delivering external-facing education, including the Dementia UK Learning Hub, Dementia at Work and the annual Summer School
• take on line management within the growing team
• help shape high-quality learning for health and social care professionals, organisations and other external audiences
• build strong relationships across Dementia UK and with external partners
• make sure learning is evidence-based, sustainable and engaging
• contribute to the Academy’s strategy, operational management and continued growth

About you

You will be a registered health professional with significant leadership experience and expert knowledge of dementia. You will bring:

• a strong understanding of education and learning development
• experience of creating learning for multidisciplinary audiences, including allied health professionals, social care or medical colleagues
• excellent communication and people management skills
• confidence working autonomously, leading through change and engaging diverse audiences across health and social care

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

• Salary: £60,500 to £66,000 per annum
