We are delighted to announce Dr Marc Suárez-Calvet as the first plenary speaker for AAIC Neuroscience Next 2026, taking place online from the 23rd to 26th February and in person in Manchester, UK on the 26th February.
Dr Suárez-Calvet is Group Leader of the Fluid Biomarkers and Translational Neurology Research Group at the BarcelonaBeta Brain Research Center and a clinical neurologist at Hospital del Mar, specialising in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions.
His career combines clinical expertise with internationally recognised research on fluid biomarkers of neurodegeneration. After training in Neurology at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and earning his doctorate cum laude at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, he held research positions in Munich and at University College London before joining BBRC in 2018.
With support from a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship and a prestigious ERC Starting Grant, his group has advanced the use of blood biomarkers in dementia diagnosis. His work has appeared in leading journals such as Science Translational Medicine, EMBO Molecular Medicine, Acta Neuropathologica and Neuron.
At the Manchester Hub, and onlien at AAIC Neuroscience Next, Dr Suárez-Calvet will deliver a plenary lecture on biomarker advances in dementia diagnosis, sharing knowledge and insights that will guide and inspire the next generation of researchers and clinicians.
