NIHR Wellbeing Webinar: Develop Your Wellbeing Skills
October 21 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Wellbeing can be hard to prioritise when you are managing or leading in health and care research. This 60-minute NIHR webinar introduces four wellbeing goals designed to support a more sustainable way of working and leading, so you can perform well, make sound decisions and support others.
The webinar runs online on Wednesday 21 October 2026, from 13:00 to 14:00 UK time.
What you will take away
- Why sustainable wellbeing is a professional necessity for effective leadership, decision-making and long-term performance.
- The value of a proactive approach, noticing early signs of strain before they escalate.
- How self-talk affects wellbeing under pressure, and how a supportive internal dialogue can help you through challenges.
- Why protecting your energy and setting boundaries matters for wellbeing and performance.
- The importance of support networks, both to sustain yourself and to support others.
Who can attend
The session is open to anyone working in or supporting health and care research through NIHR, the NHS, UK universities and other publicly funded organisations. It is aimed at managers and leaders, but is relevant to anyone looking after a team or their own workload. If pressure at work is building, our blog on academic overwhelm is a good companion read.
