Same Page Project: Questionnaires in Dementia Research

Have you taken part in, or worked on, dementia research that uses questionnaires? The DETERMIND team’s Same Page Project is holding its first online workshop to start shaping new guidelines on making questionnaires work for people living with dementia.

Many questionnaires used in dementia research are not user friendly. Most were never created with, or adapted for, people with dementia. Many are complicated and give little guidance on how to adjust them to make them more accessible, and where guidance does exist it is rarely written by people living with dementia. The Same Page Project wants to make sure questionnaires, and the way questions are asked, are inclusive, consistent and culturally appropriate.

In this workshop, the team will plan the Same Page Project dementia research guidelines, focusing on how to adapt and deliver face-to-face research using questionnaires for people living with dementia. The aim is guidance that brings researchers and people living with dementia onto the same page.

Who should take part

• People living with dementia, family members and others who provide support (reimbursed for their time in line with NIHR rates, £27.50 per hour)
• Researchers and others with experience of using questionnaires in dementia-specific research
• Relevant community organisations and representatives
