Scholarship at Risk 2: Ethical Obligations Towards Research Participants
November 12 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

The second of three free online Scholarship at Risk sessions from the School of Advanced Study, University of London, turning to what researchers owe the people who take part in their research.
When research is carried out in difficult or dangerous settings, the risks do not fall only on the researcher. This session looks at the ethical obligations researchers have towards their participants, and how to protect the people whose knowledge and experience make the research possible. It follows the opening session on academic freedom and autocratic repression (9 November), and the series closes with the principles of academic freedom (19 November).
It is part of the SAS Research Training programme. Duty of care to participants is central to dementia research, where many participants are living with cognitive impairment, so the discussion will be relevant well beyond the humanities.
Booking
All are welcome. The session is free, but you need to book through the SAS event page. It runs online via Zoom, and joining details are emailed to registered attendees 24 hours before it starts. Questions can go to kremena.velinova@sas.ac.uk.
