The Scottish Neurological Research Fund (SNRF)

The Scottish Neurological Research Fund SNRF Round 4

The Scottish Neurological Research Fund provides an opportunity for early career researchers working in different academic centres with a chance to test out ideas, researching the causes, prevention and management of neurodegenerative or neurodevelopmental conditions.

The funders, the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust, the Brain Health-ARC, and the Vivensa Foundation, have committed to this fourth round of the Scottish Neurological Research Fund (SNRF4).

‘Seedcorn grants’ enable researchers to develop ideas that may otherwise be difficult to fund and are expected to be up to £25,000. The fund welcomes opportunities to be part of a co-funded arrangement.

What are they looking for?

  • Areas to be funded: Fundamental Sciences, Clinical, and Practice-based Research and Caring Sciences
  • Early Career researchers (Early Career Researcher defined as a PhD student, Postdoctoral researcher, Fellowship or Lecturer, Clinician or Nurse in their first 3 years.)
  • Two researchers from two different institutions
  • Project to last up to 2 years, but preferably 1 year

Closing date: 1st September 2026
