Research Assistant in Flemingsberg under Karl Carlström studying epigenetics and metabolism using genome editing and cell profiling in Labmed.
This position will be part of Professor Peter Bergman’s group at the Department of Laboratory Medicine (Labmed) and will be under the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Karl Carlström. Carlström’s team focuses on the interplay between epigenetics and metabolism in oligodendrocytes, relevant to several neurodegenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. To achieve this, we use various advanced tools for genome editing and cell profiling.
The Department of Laboratory Medicine offers a uniquely integrated research environment that bridges advanced molecular science with direct clinical applications. This highly translational environment enables meaningful collaboration between basic scientists and clinicians, accelerating the path from research insight to patient benefit.
Your role
This research assistant position offers the opportunity to use genome editing technologies (including CRISPR prime editing and CRISPRi/a) and transcriptome and epigenome profiling tools (including Cut&Tag), primarily in in vitro models (including immortalized cell lines and iPSC-derived brain cells). The position is full-time and has a duration of 6 months.
Who are you?
The applicant has a Master’s degree (MSc) in experimental medicine, chemistry or biology. The applicant should have experience in and be able to master basic molecular techniques such as (qRT)-PCR, molecular cloning, transduction/transfection of viruses/plasmids into cells and cell culture. In addition, experience in CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing and next-generation sequencing is strongly desirable.
