The 5th Liverpool Dementia & Ageing Research Conference was held on the 25th of October at The Liner hotel in the city centre of Liverpool.

Dr Neil Chadborn & Ian Carmody - Social prescribing for dementia: a scoping review
Presenters:
Dr Neil Chadborn is a Senior Research Fellow, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences at University of Nottingham.
Neil is a public health researcher and gerontologist. Neil is developing research on supporting people with dementia in South Asian community, including use of digital resources (part funded by Alzheimer’s Society).
His previous work includes digital records in care homes and dementia-friendly communities. Neil leads the Technology and Ageing Special Interest Group of British Society of Gerontology.
Previous research included study of local commissioning of third sector support for older people in the community. Drawing upon his recent Masters of Public Health, Neil focuses on inter-professional and inter-organisational aspects of integrated or coordinated care. He is also a strong advocate for involving patients and carers in service improvement, as well as exploring potential for service users to participate in research and evaluation. Neil’s experience leading both qualitative and quantitative health research enables him to advise on suitable research or evaluation methods.
Dr Laura Prato is a Research Associate at University of Liverpool and Newcastle University.
Laura trained as a nurse in the North East and was later employed as a research assistant on a project aimed at improving the hospital experience of individuals living with dementia. She became passionate about the importance of conducting research aimed at enhancing the lives of individuals living with dementia and their carers. She went on to complete an MSc in Health and Social Care Research at Newcastle University and progressed to a full time PhD. Her training as an adult nurse has influenced her passion as a researcher for conducting research that empowers individuals and is focused on ensuring wellbeing for carers and people living with dementia.
Laura’s research is primarily focused on the experiences of people living with dementia and their carers during periods of hospital admission and during the hospital discharge process. She is principally interested in nurse- led research projects focused on ensuring wellbeing within both inpatient and community settings.
Dr Clarissa Giebel is a Senior Research Fellow at University of Liverpool and NIHR ARC North West Coast.
Clarissa worked as a project assistant at the University of Manchester whilst doing her Masters at the University of Leeds. After completing her MSc, Clarissa was promoted to research assistant and worked full-time at Manchester whilst doing her PhD part-time at the same University. During the last year of writing up her PhD, she was appointed as a Research Associate at University of East Anglia, and then a year later she moved back to the North. Clarissa has been working at the University of Liverpool for over three years, during that time she has been promoted to Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow.
Clarissa’s research focuses on enabling people living with dementia staying independently and well at home for as long as possible, and tackling health inequalities that might act as barriers to accessing the care people need.
Toni Hall is an NIHR funded PhD Student at Liverpool John Moores University.
Toni complted a BSc in Psychology at Wrexham Glyndŵr University and then completed an MSc in Health Psychology at The Manchester Metropolitan University. After Completing her MSc, Toni worked as a Research Assitant at UCl, and a Research Associate at Adelphi Values.
Toni’s PhD is exploring and evaluating the feasibility of installing visual adaptations into the homes of older adults who fall.
Thaïs Caprioli is a PhD Student at the University of Liverpool funed by an NIHR ARC NWC studentship.
Thaïs is interested in health service research and health inequalities, stemming from her years as a physiotherapist and as a programme coordinator within a health programme implementing in lower- and middle-income countries.
Dr Rasa Mikelyte is an NIHR ARC Kent, Surrey and Sussex DemComm, Research Fellow at University of Kent.
