Postgrad LIVE Middlesbrough
November 3 @ 11:15 am - 3:00 pm
Free
A free postgraduate study fair for the North East, at Teesside University in Middlesbrough, run by FindAPhD. Meet universities face to face, ask about funding, and sit in on talks about applying for a Masters or PhD.
If you’re weighing up a Masters or a PhD, a fair like this lets you talk to a lot of universities in one afternoon. The North East is well represented, with Teesside, Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria and Sunderland all exhibiting, alongside the Universities of York, Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham, Liverpool and St Andrews, and King’s College London. Campus France is there too, if you’re thinking about studying abroad.
Talks
- 11:15am to 12:15pm, Postgrad 101: the basics of postgraduate study, from the difference between an MRes and an MPhil to application deadlines, start dates and funding.
- 12:30pm to 1:15pm, Covering the cost of your Masters: what you need to budget for, and where the funding is.
- 1:30pm to 2:30pm, Writing a research proposal masterclass: what to include and what to leave out, with tips from students who wrote successful PhD proposals.
Talks are first come, first served, so there’s no need to book them separately. There’s also an “Ask Us Anything” zone, where postgraduate advisers and former students answer questions on funding, applications and student life.
When you’re ready to start looking, you can browse funded PhDs in dementia research on our jobs board.
