Applying for an NIHR Doctoral or Postdoctoral Fellowship on a mental health or neuroscience topic? Part Two of this online masterclass from the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS) focuses on the research project at the heart of your application, ahead of the Cohort 4 deadlines in December 2026 and January 2027.

Part Two runs online on Thursday 19 November 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 UK time.

What Part Two covers

This session is about presenting your research project convincingly, covering:

  • The scientific abstract
  • The lay summary
  • The detailed research plan

It follows Part One on Thursday 5 November 2026, which works through the rest of the application: your narrative CV, supervision, patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE), training and budget. Both sessions share one registration form, so it is worth signing up for the pair.

Why attend

  • Guidance from NIHR RSS experts on how to structure and strengthen your proposal.
  • Advice tailored specifically to mental health and neuroscience applications.
  • Time to prepare with confidence before the deadlines arrive.

Who should attend

The masterclass is for researchers planning to apply for an NIHR Doctoral or Postdoctoral Fellowship in mental health or neuroscience in Cohort 4. It is delivered by the RSS Hub at King’s College London and partners. You can find more fellowship and grant opportunities in our funding calls listings.
