Tell us a little about yourself:

I studied my BSc in Biological Sciences at the University of Leicester, where I worked on my first research project looking at whether cannabinoids can improve brain health. I then completed my MSc in Neuroscience at UCL, where I worked at the brain bank to elucidate a novel pathological feature of Dementia. Following this, I worked as a neurogenetics research assistant in Parkinson’s disease research at UCL. I then moved to industry working as an associate scientist in a biotechnology company in Oxford. I am now a PhD student at the University of Sheffield Neurovascular Lab. My PhD research assesses the effect of heart disease on Alzheimer’s disease, looking at neurovascular function, behaviour and pathology in preclinical models of human disease.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I play the dhol (traditional Punjabi drum)

Why did you choose to work in dementia:

The brain is a miraculous organ that controls everything we do, yet dementia can take it all away and erase our memories. Researching into how we can combat these diseases inspires me.

What single piece of of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

Attend as many networking events as possible as this can lead to scientific collaborations.
