Tell us a little about yourself:
I am in the fourth year of my post-doctoral research, leading a large-scale longitudinal cohort study called ISLAND. My primary research focus is on the epidemiology of dementia, including early detection and prevention. I also dabble in artificial intelligence, statistical methods and communicable diseases.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I’m a keen trail runner and have run several ultra marathons. I’m also a bit of a hobby farmer, I live on 7 acres with 2 dogs, 5 chickens and ~50,000 bees.
Why did you choose to work in dementia research?
My honours then PhD investigated diet and neuronal beta-amyloid accumulation as I was always fascinated by how what you eat could impact your brain health. This led me towards the growing list of modifiable risk factors that can reduce your risk of dementia.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
As an early career researcher myself, I would say follow the path that most interests you.

In Ascension by Martin MacInnes. I would 100% recommend.
