Alzheimer’s Research UK launches new ECR Programme

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is excited to announce the launch of a new ECR Programme! Early Career Researchers (ECRs) were identified as the group of researchers most affected by the pandemic. ARUK firmly believes that supporting and nurturing ECRs is vital to deliver their vision of a world free from the fear, harm, and heartbreak of dementia. With the help of an ECR working group, ARUK developed a new programme that consists of existing activities and new initiatives for researchers starting their careers in dementia research.

New initiatives worth noting are:

  • A new funding scheme to help retain talented researchers.
  • Leadership and management training.
  • An ARUK Network-wide mentorship scheme.
  • A career development group.

Visit the new ECR portal to find everything relevant to ECRs – grant opportunities, career support, upcoming events, public engagement opportunities and more. Please email ARUK’s Research Team research@alzheimersresearchuk.org if you have any questions or want more information.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is rolling out a mentorship scheme across all 12 Network Centres. Mentees will be matched with mentors from a different Network Centre to their own.

We hope that the scheme will help ECRs in their career development and progression, encourage collaborations, and facilitate successful cross-network relationships. The scheme will be administered centrally by the charity. Please keep an eye on the website and Researcher Newsletter for updates.

Applications for the scheme are now open.

Apply to be a mentee.

Apply to be a mentor.

The deadline for applications is 31 March 2022.
