Leaving academia: there are still opportunities to make a difference in research

Around 70% of researchers leave academia after completing their PhD, according to analysis presented by Dr Sally Hancock(opens in a new tab) at the launch of the Research on Research Institute(opens in a new tab) (RoRI). That’s a big number and it’s a stark reminder that a PhD is no longer a guarantee of a lifelong academic career.
