MND Association: Rethinking Grief Support

What actually happens when someone seeks help for grief?

For many, the answer is unclear. There’s no obvious pathway, support can feel hit and miss, and knowing what kind of help you need, or when, isn’t always straightforward.

In this webinar hosted by the MND Association, Bianca, Clinical Director of Grief and Bereavement at Surreyder, introduces a new way of thinking about bereavement support.

At the centre is the Grief Map, a digital triage tool designed to guide people towards the right level of support, whether that’s simple information, community connection, or more formal clinical care.

Along the way, the session explores some big, quietly uncomfortable questions:

  • When does grief become a problem
  • Who actually needs therapy, and who doesn’t
  • Why current systems often struggle to respond consistently
  • And what “good” grief support might look like in practice

It also introduces a stepped approach to care and a model of single session therapy that challenges some traditional assumptions about how support should be delivered.

If you work with people affected by loss, or are thinking about how services can better respond to grief, this is well worth a watch.
