Now I work on projects funded by the European Commission, research funders, universities, and national government to build evidence based policies to promote diversity and inclusion.

My clients pay fees, the EC pays me as an in house consultant with Portia Ltd

Tell us a little about yourself:

I am 53 years old and I have two adolescent daughters, one of whom studies in NY. I love to travel and read books and sup (stand up paddle) on the lakes in Friesland.

What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

Cherish your intrinsic motivation and curiosity, and when things become difficult know you are not alone. Finally, there is lots more variety in career paths than you are taught to expect

What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?

I am an island by Tamsin Calidas. Yes, I would recommend it to middle aged women like myself
