Tell us a little about yourself:

I am a recent Biomedical Sciences graduate from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Being fascinated about the brain from high school, I found it exciting working on the interaction between alcohol consumption, sleep deprivation, and memory – my final year thesis. I am passionate about sleep, microbiome, and kidney research. I have acquired a transferable skill set useful to the industry. Also, being passionate about data science, I have honed my analytical skills in deep and machine learning, R, SAS, and Python. I am gritty, savvy, an effective communicator with a dedication to precision. I enjoy teamwork and I’m eager to collaborate with experts from a variety of fields to solve problems with data. I am also committed to continuing my education and research in brain health.

I am also an ISTAART Ambassador for 2025/2026

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I really love to just sing and gospel is my favorite. And one fun thing I love as well is to explore the world and travel to places, even the obscure ones. And that is what I envision to be my hobby in some years to come.

Why did you choose to work in dementia:

Hailing from Africa, it is projected from data that in 2050 about half of the population will be in their 50s ad above. Also, some research suggest current 40 year olds have prevailing symptoms of dementia and are likely to progress into AD. This is really concerning. With my interest in neuroscience, I decided to work in dementia to contribute to the fight against the disease in order to achieve a dementia-free world.

What single piece of of advice would you give to an early career researcher?

Listen to the voice of the people, ad don’t just see them as data points. Every data has a story behind and a family who love them. That should be the integrity with which an early career researcher does their research.
