Tell us a little about yourself:

I am a physiotherapist by background but got into research nearly 6 years ago as the physiotherapist delivering the intervention on a chair-based exercise study. I am the mum of a slightly loopy 8-year-old boy who wants to go to the Winter Olympics in 2030 and get a snowboarding gold medal for GB!!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself:

I was on TV every Saturday night for 2 years in the 1990’s!

Why did you choose to work in dementia?

The first study I worked in included people with and without dementia. Whilst delivering the intervention I noticed that some of the people living with dementia struggled to engage with the very structured exercises using weights and theraband. One particular session we ended with a game of chair hockey and everyone without fail joined in and got quite competitive. I found this fascinating and started lots of questions in my head about why this happened…………the rest as they say is history.
