I became a Public Advisor Researcher after caring for my Mam who had Frontotemporal Dementia
Why did you choose to work in dementia?
I learnt a lot in the short time I had with my mam, following her diagnosis, about the inequalities and difficulties those living with dementia and their families face. I had left my job as a biology teacher to try and help her and I wanted to make use of everything I’d experienced in dementia diagnosis and care, hoping to make a difference.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early-career researcher?
Make use of the knowledge and experience of public advisors!
What book are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?
