Recently, Google announced that it would be closing ‘Google Podcasts’ the native app, and possibly default player that you may be using to enjoy our podcasts on your Android smartphone. After 23 June 2024, you will no longer be able to listen to podcasts in Google Podcasts.
We would hate for you to miss out on the Dementia Researcher Podcast and Dementia Researcher Blogs Podcasts so this post is to help you find an alternative player (for use on your Android Device) that can service you with our podcast feed.
The options…
1. Google would like you to consider migrating to YouTube Music. I am sure you’re all familiar with YouTube, well…. this is the new way google would like you to listen. It works on your phone and web browser and does allow offline listening. On this platform you can subscribe to our podcasts using the links below:
2. Goodpods was created not just as a podcast player, but also a social network that allows you to make and recieve recommendations. The app is available on Apple and Android and also available on web.
3. Soundcloud is the platform we use for publishing the original media. Known for music, it is also a great way to enjoy our podcasts on Android, and has the benefit of our playlists.
4. Podcast Addict is super popular on Android devices and one of the most used amongst podcast fans.
5. Spotify is popular and allows you to watch the video or listen to audio, with paid and free options this could be a great alternative.
