I am a science communication officer for Alzheimer’s research UK, which involves communicating dementia research to a wider audience. Before this role I was doing a PhD looking at potential anti-inflammatory effects of phytocannabinoids in models of neuroinflammation.

Tell us a little about yourself:
I’m from Ireland and moved to the UK (London) just as the pandemic started to collaborate on my PhD project with a lab in UCL and in Dublin. I love to read – always have a book on the go and I’m an active and outgoing person.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself:
I play a sport called Gaelic football.
Why did you choose to work in dementia?
I want to help make a difference to those living with dementia and communicate the importance of research to understand how the brain works.
What single piece of advice would you give to an early career researcher?
Make time for your passions and hobbies outside the lab, this will stand to during all the ups and downs!
